College

Yesterday was PRO (Preview-Registration-Orientation) day at the little one's new college.
My husband went up with him first thing and I got there at 10:30.

A few observations:
* These kids are smart. Like Sheldon Cooper smart. I am not that smart. I spent a lot of time feeling really dumb.

* I was super excited with the campus and the professors that we spoke too. Most, if not all, have their PhD. And they all seemed to love their jobs!
* The campus was immaculate and green and gorgeous and the architecture was amazing.
* It was sunny with 80 degree temps and blue skies so the walk to lunch was gorgeous.

*We spent a lot of time walking. People with bad knees in flat sandals need not apply.

*I didn't get any pictures of us all together. My husband had to leave to go to work shortly after I got there.
I did take these while I was waiting for him to finalize his schedule (and talk about quantum physics and the different types of engineering with the advisors- he has never been happier than when he was surrounded by his type of people.

Yes I soaked up the sun. And I am loving my neon orange Tarjay sandals.

Here is a better shot. The best part is I got them on clearance at our Target.

* He wants a private room. He remembers the issues we had with his older brother getting his things taken (among other bad things) and doesn't want his stuff taken or messed with. A private room is not cheap. We haven't made a final decision yet.
* The college is 80% male. I guess girls are less interested in a science and technology school.
* The kids that were helping with PRO day were seniors and they really seemed to be having fun. This is important!
* The thing they stressed the most was that "asking for help was necessary" Most, if not all, of these kids have high GPA's and high ACT scores and try to do it all on their own. Asking for help is a sign of weakness.
* Most of these kids have rarely had to study in school. This is a hard school. This will have to change, at least for my kid who has always had it easy in the learning dept.
* I helped him choose his classes. I was actually completely confused for a good half hour but after asking for help, we did it!!

* He ended up taking 14 hours. Freshman week he has to take a 3 hour Trig review. Chemistry Safety, Freshman Engineering, General Chemistry (online), Chem. 1 (lecture), Chem. 2 (a lab), Calculus, and English.

After we got back last night, I had dinner plans with a friend from work. I took her to my favorite place and she loved it. We didn't have time for the trip to Target we had planned but we really had a nice time.

I have been making lists of all the things I want/need to do around here and it makes me tired thinking about it. I am always just so overwhelmed anymore.

And done.

Friday

I think the warm weather is finally here. I do love me some sunshine and hot temps and the cooler weather and rain has saddened me. Next week in the 90's!!

The rain has definitely made my yard super green and gorgeous! The magnolia and Japanese lilac trees smell like heaven!

The pond guy needs to get out here and clean the pond.  Pretty sure my fish have been fooling around because I have 3 more than I did last year.

I am going to a wedding tomorrow for one of our employees. I do not like her future husband at all but I will support her. I will say this: if he lays a hand on her again, I will chop him into pieces and feed him to my dog/fish/garbage disposal. I also learned from Breaking Bad that a plastic tub and some acid can do wonders for body disposal. Not a threat, just an observation.
I plan to wear the cute Vince Camuto dress I bought for a steal a while back.

Speaking of Vince Camuto, did I mention I have a love for his Ellen flats? These are my latest pair and I have a coral pair on the way. So comfortable!!!

I got this cute ring last week at the Nordstrom sale online. Less than $20!
I thought I would share my bedtime look. The hair is cray-cray but my skin is really happy with the Clarins skin line I have been using. So far it hasn't erased the furrow in my forehead though.

We are beginning the college countdown. Picking a dorm, deciding if he wants a roommate (he doesn't), meal plans and classes. The fun part will be picking out dorm supplies, he hates shopping and I love it.

The little one's birthday went well. We got him the  desktop computer he wanted for his dorm room and a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet so he can take it to class. Then we took him and his best friend to dinner on the lake.

I have been waiting for this Anthro necklace to go on sale and my wish came true. I wear the heck out of my other one and this one will go with so many things!
Speaking of shopping, I have a sickness for these sleeveless, button up shirts. I got a few at Target and a few at F21. I wear them with skinny jeans and flats or sandals.
See, here I am today. This one is from F21 and has faux leather on the collar and pockets.

Yesterday was hair day. Color and cut- badly needed! It was also customer appreciation month so I got a free back and shoulder massage, relaxing eye treatment and a quick manicure and hand massage. And she curled my hair which still looked great this morning so I didn't wash it!
I actually like the collarbone length so I only had her trim it.
Sadly, I cannot curl my hair to save my life.

I have now watched all seasons of Glee, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. Mr. F bought Game of Thrones so I guess that is next. And I want to catch up with Dexter and The Big C. Anything else I need to see??

I want to do another fun makeup/beauty product post soon. I have picked up a few new things here and there that I want to talk about.
We now have an Ulta so I made my first trip there on Monday. All I got was some hair product for my husband and some lipglosses. I still prefer Sephora but it was fun.
These are still some of my favorite glosses.
We are in the precess of having our floors done. I picked the hardwood I want but the tile for the kitchen and half bath is the hard part. I love the colors slate offers but I want porcelain. Here is the sample I like (just the center square) and then some of the smaller squares in a pattern. You cannot tell from the bad photo but there is a lot of color, blues and greens in it as well.

 Gotta run!!

 Good-smelling stuff

Spring candle haul

Sent the Anthropologie dress back and hit up the mall. Spent hours looking for (and trying on dresses till I wanted to stab myself) and hit pay dirt at the final stop, Dillards. Got both of these dresses for less than the other one. And some super cute teal sandals to match.

I am also returning the Ugg wedges. The strap slid off my heel and they rubbed the crap out of my toe. I am going back to find a replacement next week.
I need a brown pair for this dress.
It is a Vince Camuto and cost me less than $45 (on sale). Score!

We survived our busiest day yet!
We have had a great week, best so far, and our busiest and most profitable Mother's Day.
Whew!

Here was our weekend...

One of our servers saw a snake sitting on the newspaper machine looking in the window at her while she ate her lunch. It happened to be the woman who is the most terrified of snakes (like me). When one of our cooks tried to catch it and move it, it crawled into the paper machine.
Good times.
Animal control was called.

Holy shizzle.
Not poisonous but who really cares.
Guahhhhhh!!!
SSSSSSSeeeee ya later, sucka!
(no snakes were harmed, no lives lost)

The hounds had a spa day yesterday. 3 got shaved, all 4 got baths and pedicures (ha)

Finn and Kona look like lions.
Molly is still a princess.

Finn

Went to a scholarship awards ceremony for this little one. He got some small awards from the college is he attending and was one of 2 students in his graduating class to get a scholarship for the highest ACT score.
(I really missed my calling as a photographer, stupid iPhone pics)
He is a giant.

After an insanely busy Mother's Day breakfast and lunch, I took a break out in the sun between shifts. It was a beautiful day!!

Shirt and necklace- Anthropologie

Adore my new necklace!

I wore my rose gold watch-Target, BCBG bracelet (buy here) and new nail polish-Loreal "Now You Sea Me"

The Anthro dress I bought for graduation did not fit. I really disliked the colors in person as well so it is going back.

The little one got me some of my fave candy for Mother's Day and a cute Snoopy card (his favorite)

I did hear from the big one as well, a "Happy Mother's Day and I love you".

I ordered myself a few new candles and lotions from B & B Works (love good-smelling stuff!)

I am loving this watch, I need a gold one so it is on my "list"

I finished all 3 seasons of The Walking Dead
How cute is this boy?

He can smash a zombie to bits and look hot doing so..

I am ready for a hot date with a cocktail, a Lush bubble bar and my bed.

Have a great week!
